Meet the Pussycats - NazDroveya Wylde #191proof

by Evada Perón

The FPC could not be more pleased to introduce you to Rookie skater, NazDroveya Wylde, also known as “Naz-dee” by her fellow kitties.

Name & Number: NazDroveya Wylde, #191 proof
Position(s): Blocker and sometimes jammer!
Sign: Scorpio
Best Quality: I'm a Scorpio.
Worst Quality:  I'm a Scorpio. Or has that line been taken already?

Naz-dee will readily tell you that from the moment she experienced her first taste of a Terminal City Rollergirls bout, she was hooked.  It was only last summer she attended her first bout, and shortly thereafter she explains, “I found my way into the Terminal City Rollergirls' Fresh Meat program and haven't looked back since." She was happily surprised once she became a member of TCRG to learn how “inclusive and supportive everyone is.  It's been awesome how great an experience I have had... especially comparing to having played sports competitively in school."

NazDroveya’s off-skate activities have provided her with skills that have brought rave reviews from fans and fellow TCRG skaters when she flies by on the track.  Not only does she rock the quad skates a few times a week, she also keeps busy playing hockey, hiking the great outdoors, and cycling the city streets.  When asked what strengths she brings to the FPC, Naz-D’s confident that her skating background has become key in her ability to keep up with other skaters, she adds when it comes to blocking/pivoting, “I can out-shout a lot of people, and I'm not too shabby on the physical side of things." If you were lucky enough to catch the pre-season bout on March 2, you would know what she means.

It’s no question Naz-D is an athlete, but she also wants you to know that she enjoys, “a good book or film, taking photographs, playing with chocolate” and our personal favorite, “infusing/taste testing vodka."  When asked what strengths she brings to the FPC off the track, that smirk rise up again: “My love of things sweet, my maturity and my sun-shiny disposition. Ha!”

Naz-D informs us that her favorite past time on a sunny Vancouver day includes “a Slurpee, (cat) napping in a sun-shiny spot and occasionally cycling to and fro... not necessarily in that order."  Of course we asked what her favorite past time is on a rainy Vancouver day, and she responds with the following, “a Slurpee, (cat) napping and occasionally puddle jumping…not necessarily in that order."

As the season opener draws near, we asked Naz-D why fans should cheer for the Faster Pussycats?  Well, her answer is simple.  The FPC are all about "the greatest game on 8 wheels: fast skating, hard hitting and hearts breaking!  How could you NOT cheer for these cute wittle cuddly kitties? Meow!”
Lastly, when asked about her name, she will only say (with a sly wink), “It is a play on the word 'nazdrowie', shout out to my heritage and one of my favourite past times."  Are you Googling yet?
