Pussycats win in Alaska!

On Thursday and Saturday January 28 and 30 the 'cats travelled to Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska to scrimmage with Rage City Rollergirls and bout the Fairbanks Rollergirls.

In front of an enthusiastic crowd of 2300 in the Fairbanks Carlson Center, the Pussycats dominated the first half of the bout, going into half-time with a 58-21 lead, with big jams by PLAYER 1 and 8Mean Wheeler. Fairbanks regrouped in the second half and put their star jammer Pyroclastic Flo in heavy rotation, but the Pussycats hung on for a 104-81 win. 8Mean Wheeler was the Pussycats' MVP of the game, doing double-duty as both pivot and jammer; as the Fairbanks announcer put it, "Man, that jammer can block!" It was great to see our go-to jammer Ring'er Bell shine as a blocker, to watch IonA BeerWagon and just sKate play their best games yet, and witness Suzy Shameless win over the Fairbanks crowd with her moves.

Rage City's Shocker Khan did a great job subbing in for our Andi Struction, who broke her ankle in the Anchorage scrimmage Thursday. Andi and FPC line caller Johnny Qwadd ably managed the Pussycat bench.

Big thanks to our supporters at home for helping send us on this amazing team-building trip, and to our Alaskan hosts for their very warm northern welcome. Thanks also to Terminal City's guest Pussycats Flower Plow'her, dek_her, and 8Mean Wheeler.

FBXRG's summary is on their website here.
